Series 3 Snedden's Knockabout 2kg Hand Crafted Australian Made Axe with spotted gum handle and leather cover.

This series of axe head features our vintage feel design logo. The poll is more in line with vintage axes and smaller than the Knockabout series 2 axe. It is a collaboration of Steve and our son Matt and we are very proud of this one. They are top quality handcrafted heirloom pieces and our axes have proved very popular with collectors.

We are proud to be keeping traditional axe making skills alive in Australia. We have been manufacturing axes since 2002 after a long period of research and development and a lifelong love of axes. Every step in the development of our axe range follows time honoured traditional methods and has been totally designed and overseen by Steve Snedden. Top quality alloys - nickel chrome moly (also used to make earth moving tynes for durability and strength) are used. Our axes hold a beautiful edge .  We hand forge each axe to refine the grain structure in the steel for a superior cutting edge. They are heat treated to ensure the correct hardness and temper. Each head is individually hand shaped , sharpened to an all purpose edge ready to use. The grind is suitable for our Australian hardwoods. The handles have been ergonomically designed by Steve and manufactured in house from local spotted gum. The design incorporates a larger butt swell to fit the hand more comfortably and textured hand grip. Handle length 81 cm or 32 inches .  At the moment we are using gidgee wood contrasting wedges . After the handle is hand fitted and wedged each axe head is pinned for safety and individually numbered. Your axe comes with a leather cover also made by ourselves and a numbered certificate signed by Steve and Matt as the axe makers.

We can get your axe hand engraved with a name and date for an extra $40 to make it a special 21st , Birthday , Fathers Day. Etc. Please note engraving is limited to a name and date or less and is in an old fashioned script font.
